Providence is the state capital and second largest city in New England. Diverse and historic, bicycle friendly, and easy to explore by foot, Providence is an active center of art, culture, education, and politics.

The depth of Providence's famed restaurant scene is certain to please any palate. It is one of the top culinary destinations in the U.S. and boasts more degreed chefs per capita than any other city in the United States.

Getting Around Campus and Providence: The Brown University campus is remarkably walkable. The campus shuttle services are available to long-term visitors with a Brown ID card. The Rhode Island Public Transporation Authority (RIPTA) also has a bus system that runs from downtown Providence through the Brown campus, and beyond.
