ICERM co-sponsored the Brown University SUMS conference on March 5, 2011

February 19, 2011 - ICERM co-sponsored the Brown University Symposium for Undergraduates in the Mathematical Sciences (SUMS), which took place March 5, 2011. The symposium's goal is to foster greater undergraduate interest and scholarship in mathematics by demonstrating the ubiquity of mathematics throughout the sciences. This year's symposium featured the topic of Math and the Design of Form.

David Mumford received National Medal of Science

November 17, 2010 - David Mumford received the National Medal of Science, the nation's highest scientific honor, from President Barack Obama at a White House ceremony on November 17. Mumford is a professor emeritus of applied mathematics at Brown University and currently serves as member of the Board of Trustees and the Education Advisory Board of ICERM. New NSF Mathematics Institute established

August 4, 2010 - The National Science Foundation (NSF) announced a $15.5M award for its newest Mathematical Sciences Research Institute. The Institute for Computational and Experimental Research in Mathematics (ICERM) at Brown University will become operational in June 2011.
