March 14, 2011 - On Wednesday, March 16, 2011, Jan Hesthaven (Brown Professor of Applied Math, Director for the Center for Computation and Visualization, and Associate Director of ICERM) gave an overview of ICERM, including ways that the Institute and the local Geek community might work together. The goal of the Providence Geeks is to help Rhode Island's digital innovators connect, collaborate, and ultimately make the City-State and its geeks info-technology leaders. All are welcome!

February 19, 2011 - ICERM co-sponsored the Brown University Symposium for Undergraduates in the Mathematical Sciences (SUMS), which took place March 5, 2011. The symposium's goal is to foster greater undergraduate interest and scholarship in mathematics by demonstrating the ubiquity of mathematics throughout the sciences. This year's symposium featured the topic of Math and the Design of Form.
