ICERM Associate Director Named as SIAM Fellow

April 17, 2013 - SIAM has announced the 2013 Class of SIAM Fellows and among the 33 members is ICERM Associate Director, Björn Sandstede. These distinguished members were nominated for their exemplary research as well as outstanding service to the community. New Board of Trustee Board Members Named

March 14, 2013 - We are pleased to announce the following individuals have accepted appointments to ICERM's Board of Trustees (BOT):

Yvon Maday, Université Pierre et Marie Curie

Bin Yu, University of California at Berkeley

ICERM's Board of Trustees oversees all institute activities. This includes being responsible for reviewing the budget for the coming year, approving the appointment of the Director, and taking a leadership role in fundraising and public awareness. The Board of Trustees has a face-to-face meeting at ICERM for one day each year (usually in late spring), and ad hoc meetings as needed.

We would also like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank three founding members who are stepping down from the Board of Trustees this spring: Rick David McLaughlin and David Mumford.

ICERM Director Discusses STEM Education

Science Behind Predictive Policing

March 12, 2013 - The Los Angeles Police Department is using a new tactic in their fight against crime called "predictive policing." It's a computer program that was originally developed by a team at UCLA, including mathematician (and ICERM Scientific Advisory Board Chair) Andrea Bertozzi and anthropologist Jeff Brantingham.
